TERRITORY - TERRE DI ROMANGIA:

Sorso is a natural amphitheatre with Porto Torres and Castelsardo to either side and Sennori and the Osilese mountains in the background, and is the main town of the Terre di Romangia in the Angiona region. Situated at 135 metres above sea level, it is set in a magnificent landscape approximately 3 km inland. TOWN:

The medieval town centre of Sorso is called Bicocca and is characterized by the simple architecture of the buildings, with shady interior courtyards, and built in limestone excavated from local quarries. The neoclassical church of San Pantaleo, built in 1836 and named after the patron saint of the town, dominates Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the town`s main street. Built on the site of a old Romanesque church, the new building has a main dome and five smaller domes; statues of the Apostles are set into the façade, and inside a Vergine delle Rosa from the 16th-17th centuries can be seen.

During the year, the local towns are animated by a host of events for all tastes: gastronomic meetings, concerts, traditional festivals, games, sports meetings, cultural events, exhibitions and crafts fairs. An ideal location for nature lovers, and for those who enjoy walking, horse-riding and cycling.

COAST:

The beach stretches from Porto Torres and Marina di Sorso to Castelsardo, and is ideal for sunbathing and swimming. On the eastern side, a thick pine-wood runs between the beach and the costal road, protecting the in-land areas from the wind. Excursions can be made to the Parco Nazionale dell`Asinara and the Terme di Casteldoria, a noted spa location with hot water sports in the sand that reach temperatures of 70�C.
